Syed Rizvi, M.D.

Philosophy

I work with my patients to help with chronic pain and fatigue often associated with rheumatoid disease and encourage their active participation in learning about the disease and its treatment.

Biography

Dr. Syed Rizvi joined MacNeal in 2007, where he works with children and adults and their primary care physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic disease. Rheumatic disease is characterized by inflammation, stiffness, pain or loss of function in connecting structures of the body; especially joints tendons, ligament, bones and muscles. Some common rheumatic disorders include: arthritis, connective tissue disease, musculoskeletal disorders, osteoprosis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, bursitis and lupus. Dr. Rizvi is board certivied in internal medicine, rheumatology and geriatrics. He conducted an internal medicine externship at the VA Medical Center, NY and a residency at Temple University and Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Pa. Dr. Rizvi completed a geriatric fellowship at Tulane University and VA Medical Center, LA and rheumatology fellowship at Lousiana State University, LA. He was appointed to the faculty of internal medicine at University of Pittsburg, Pa, and most recently served as staff rheumatologist at Winsor Clinic, PC in MI and Medical Director of Marlette Rehabilitation Center, MI.
